US and Britain world’s largest arms producers in 2013
Data just published regarding the global arms industry has focused on sales of (1) and military services throughout 2013.
The industry last year was worth (2) € bn, 45% more than in 2002.
The United States and Britain are the biggest (3) of arms.
Two-thirds of all military hardware last year was made in the US and Western Europe with France and Italy also being big players in the market.
The data is contained in a report by the Stockholm International(4) Research Institute, SIPRI.
After presenting the main findings at a press conference in Brussels, the report’s author explained that lack of (5) and corruption are problems within the industry.
Previous reports have estimated that corruption in the global arms industry is worth around (6) € bn annually.
